A vital part of the emissions control system in your DeLorean, fuel vapors are routed to this carbon canister. Sometimes a fuel smell can be traced to a damaged carbon canister or to deteriorated rubber blanking caps on the top. It is located in the driver's side "pontoon" of the engine compartment, behind the access panel with the hoses going into it.
