The factory hinges were known for breaking at the stud, so when we had these reproduced, we specified a wider head to increase the security of the stud to the hinge. The resulted in nearly 3X the area where the mounting stud is attached. In making this change, some DeLoreans may require the use of a round file to slightly enlarge the mounting holes on your underbody, engine cover or both to ensure a good fit and alignment. Doing so will also increase the range in which the engine cover may be adjusted, making a great fit easier to achieve.
