New Reproduction Part!

The heater core is a part of the cooling system. It looks kind of like a little radiator, and actually is a small radiator itself, with the same looking fins that disperse the heat. It's primary function is to allow the DeLoreans heat and windshield defroster to operate. It does this by circulating coolant through it; the coolant comes in through one heater hose and out the other, radiating the heat from the hot engine coolant into the passenger compartment. It's also the source of the warm air that the defroster directs to the windshield. The heater core is inside the same housing as the AC evaporator, buried behind almost every other component of the dashboard. Yes, it's no fun to replace. The most common signs of a heater core failure are a foggy film on your windshield, accompanied by the odor of engine coolant. Because it's so hard to get to, and most have not ever been changed, if you ever have to replace the AC evaporator, we suggest changing the heater core while you're there. The part is cheap compared to the time and labor expense of doing it twice.
