Lots of places use our DeLorean part numbers as identifiers for their "cross-reference" or "copycat" parts, creating confusion in the marketplace. This

FACTORY IMPROVED PART!
Most DeLorean owners have experienced the problem of pulling the engine compartment over release handle, feeling the latch disengage, but the engine cover doesn't pop up! The springs on the latches for most cars were just too weak to "pop" up the engine cover. In October of 1981 the factory issued Temporary Substitution Authority #1515, authorizing a new spring to be obtained, fitted to any existing latches in the factory, and that the new spring be fitted to all new latches coming into the factory.
However, for all the cars built before then, there was no Service Bulletin or other notice to dealers about this change. Now is your opportunity to get this new factory correct, updated spring! Easy to install and makes a huge difference!
