INERTIA SWITCH
DeLorean Motor Company Safety Campaign (Recall) RA-0003 - July 16, 1982
During the short history of the original DeLorean Motor Company, a handful of safety recalls were issued. Though the recalls could have been performed by an original dealer, many of the recalls came so late in production that the original DMC had gone out of business before a lot of cars could have these safety critical recalls completed. If you're not sure whether or not your car needs this recall, contact us and we can help you determine if you need this or not.
This switch acts to cut power to the fuel pump and unlock the doors (only the power locks are functional) in the event of a severe accident that would "jolt" the ball and magnet within this part. Known to fail from time to time and cause a mysterious "no-start" problem, or the car will start fine and then die after running for a bit, and then restart without issue. Located in the driver's footwell, they are sometimes kicked and activated, too.
